Woodland flowers
Sunshine this morning, it was nice to get the washing out and drying in the breeze.
I sat in the garden for a while then we decided to go for a walk after lunch and got a bit carried away. We ended up walking to the top of Clermiston Hill to the tower and back a four and a half mile round trip. The flowers in the wood were wonderful. Apart from those in the collages , there was also some wood sorrel, sweet scented gorse, lots of blue bells both Scottish and Spanish. There were salmon berry flowers, which I hadn't seen before, but I recognised the plants. In spite of a huge amount of clearing in the woods it is growing back as rampantly as before. Two different types of red campion, two different white dead nettles, waxy cranesbill, forget me nots in blue and pink. The views from the top of the hill across the gold course to Fife and East Lothian were spectacular, but it was the flowers that really caught my eye. On the way down we saw horse chestnut candles, oak and ash flowers as well as some white hawthorn, as Fairweather girl said yesterday, it smelt wonderful.
A great walk and lots to see
C had a vestry meeting this evening on Zoom so I went out the front and swept both the pavement and the edge of our wall. I also attacked the wall edge with a shovel to get rid of the weeds which appear between wall and pavement, I did it all with tools today because I picked up slivers of glass last time I did it with my hands. That was also the reason for stopping it all well first.
Keep well everybody, I think the FM still has a handle on this and isn't going to be pushed into making rushed decisions. At least I hope she does!
