Useful bolthold

I like coming back from the filling station (paper) via the White Cart Water which ambles alongside the derelict grassland leading to Pollokshaws Road. This morning I saw a group of mergansers, three females (or possibly immature males) and a male, first time I've seen a group of them together. I always look out for this pipe opening which doesn't sound very attractive but looks as if it could be a very useful route for a number of creatures.
VE Day today, and a lot of uncharitable postings of fb and twitter about its relevance, the main objection is described as a dislike of flag waving (which I cannot tolerate either), hover they are missing the main point which has nothing to do with flags, nationalism or countries come to that.
Looks like being another sunny and warm day, bring on the colder weather, I sleep better.
