Berberis

Today's the day ....................... for a garden shrub

Sometimes you just can't resist taking a picture of flowers in the garden because they are just such a gorgeous combination of colours.

Take this Berberis for example.  It's in no way a showy sort of a shrub - but look closely at those clusters of tiny yellow and raspberry red flowers, against a background of those dark reddish purple leaves.  It's a triumph of colour coordination.

In fact, I love this time of the year when plants are really beginning to grow - but it's all still (hopefully) under control - with lots to look forward to.  There's a general garden shot in extras with Veronica in the foreground.

It'll all go a bit pear-shaped in a month or two, but just for now, everything in the garden is rosy …………………...
