Diary of an Edinburgher

Doggie visitors

The warm sunny weather has been eluding us this week, but we’re promised the sun will shine over the whole country tomorrow. The sun did try this morning, and in fact, Robert and Archie had a sunny walk, and we had a sunny cuppa in the front garden when they returned. But then the clouds rolled in and that was that.

While Archie was away, we had two doggie visitors at the gate. I must say, it’s rather nice to have a wee doggie stick his nose in the gate and not have a barrage of hysterical barking from You-Know-Who. First visitor was wee Maggie, a local border terrier. Archie and she get on fine, but it still would have been a noisy encounter initially. The second visitor was a wee whippet-type black dog - didn’t catch his name, but he stuck his head through for a pat - in fact, he could have walked straight through the gate bars no bother. He was such a lovely, gentle chap. The owner told us a bit about him - he’s a rescue dog, has been badly treated, trusted nobody, had no hair, but is now growing quite a thatch. He’s in training to be a therapy dog. What a success story.

JR took Archie out later, this being a running ‘rest day’, but I had a binge on the American ‘Office’, which just goes on and on (I mean in a good way) for many seasons. Ideal afternoon viewing.

Elizabeth brought us some Waitrose shopping, but we’ve also got a ‘click and collect’ at Sainsbury’s for Thursday. We certainly won’t starve. In fact, this online shopping is most convenient.

545 deaths today. That tunnel has just got a bit longer. Although the weekend figures are never correct.

This is Archie looking out for Robert coming. I like using the wide angle - he looks so daft.
