‘Lockdown’ by Peter May

A dull cool morning giving way to sunshine

Peter May is one of Scotland’s most prolific and successful authors but, in 2005, he couldn’t get anyone to Publish his first book, ‘The Blackhouse’, so he wrote, in a space of 6 weeks, ‘Lockdown’, which is a crime thriller set against a Bird Flu epidemic which shuts down London. Publishers told him that it could never happen, it was too far fetched. He then put the Script in a safe place, bringing it out earlier this year when Covid_19 hit us.

It is scarily prescient, and makes uncomfortable reading.

It seems as if Scotland is moving slowly and cautiously towards the easing of our lockdown. From the end of next week we will be taking ‘one small step for Scots folk’ and other slightly bigger steps a few weeks later. Light at the end of the tunnel, as long as everyone keeps to the guidelines.
