Cecil Hepworth
Day 66- a very windy cycle to Walton on Thames, then to Laleham and back via Shepperton and Sunbury. The Cecil Hepworth Playhouse ( See extra) is a small theatre that was originally part of the Hepworth Film Studios, near Walton Bridge. Cecil Hepworth ( 1874-1953) was a film director, producer and screen writer. He was among the founders of the British film industry and made many films at the Walton Studios built in 1899. One important real life footage he took was of Queen Victoria’s funeral in 1901. He also made many short films and the first full length film of Alice in Wonderland in 1903.
