Diary of an Edinburgher

Hedge trimmed!

We did it! Yes, the hedge is trimmed, a good two hours work. But it looks beautiful. It was hot and sunny in the morning, and I ended up with a bright red face, a combination of extreme effort and sun - not a pretty sight, and it stays like that for absolutely ages afterwards.

Robert took Archie for a walk, so we didn’t have him (Archie) ‘helping’. And we’d finished by the time he returned. The garden bin goes out tonight, another reason to get it cut today.

After I’d recovered enough, I was lured out for a walk. Actually, I wanted to go, because Prêt shops are now open, and there’s one not too far away. I LOVE Prêt’s soya flat whites. And I read that they were offering 20 coffees for £20. Too tempting.

As we approached we could see the barista fiddling around. No queue! Good!  But when I tried to go in, the door was locked. Closed at 2.30pm.  It was 2.37pm. I was MOST disappointed.

We walked round to the canal and came home that way. New graffiti on the wall, not all of it arty. Several chaps fishing in the canal (they catch pike & perch, apparently).

Back on the Links, there were plenty of folk sitting around, including a big group of men, each with a large container of beer and plastic cups. The hotel nearby has been selling takeaway beers and wine. There has been some trouble there of an evening. And litter. And I will not dwell on where they go to the toilet... Quite glad to have some gentle rain this evening.
