Battered
Today was the 3rd day of rain, with half an inch having fallen per my rain gauge. It was pretty continuous today, so a day for staying in except for a quick trip into the garden to take a photo. This time last year I was on a cruise, this year the cruise ship I was on is one of several 'resting' in Weymouth Bay!
Day 84 / Day 76 of Lockdown / Day 7 of Step 2 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 77 to 40,542 (beware Sun & Mon low figures) with no new deaths in Scotland. Globally CV cases pass 7M. The Oxford University team are confident of producing a successful treatment for Covid-19 produced from two antibodies. The Oxford vaccine is now being trialed in Brazil due to the falling transmission rate in the UK.
Per R4 news this morning, research has shown lots of different strains of the virus in the UK, most die out but 21 exist currently. There is a different strain in Kings Lynn from Norwich 40 miles away for example. (From memory as I can't find it reported on the web). It is now thought that there were 100k new infections per day in early March (now 5,600). No numbers being reported on Test & Trace until the Statistics Authority are happy with them. I heard that there are 9,000 care homes in the UK with 0.75M residents.
