Tux

Tux has been looking a bit older and that's only to be expected, of course, but he's been looking a bit skinny, too, which is odd for a cat that loves his food. And he has been eating more and nagging for more meals, mewling in a way he never used to.

On Friday the Minx suggested that I take him along to the vets and we arranged an appointment for today. Neither Tux nor Flea has been to see a vet in years and I wasn't sure how he'd take to the travel in a pet carrier but he was totally laid back about it.

Abi and I took him to Westmorland Vets, just along the A65, where they have the whole socially distanced process down to a tee: the little fella was in and out in a quarter of an hour. Mary, the vet, said his heart rate was really high but they had taken some blood and they'd soon know what the problem was.

The vet rang back a little later to say that Tux has hyperthyroidism, which can be treated with medicine, which I need to give him twice a day. I'm not sure how Tux will take to that! Still, it was nice to know that there is something to be done for him and hopefully we can recover him to his former stature.
