Dent Station

Yesterday, I suggested in passing to Dan and Abi that we might go out for a drive, this afternoon. Dan is generally up for anything but I was pleasantly surprised this morning when Abi reminded me of the idea.

So after lunch we drove out to Ingleton for petrol and snacks from the Co-op there, and then headed up the valley towards Hawes, passing through Ribblehead with its well-known viaduct. From here we continued north-east before taking the left-hand turn to Cowgill and Dent.

Our destination was Dent Station, which is atop a hill that is actually about four miles from Dent itself. It's a beautiful little station and at the moment - well ex-C19 - you can rent the old station house or one of the 'snow huts'. Peeping through the window, it appears to have been done up beautifully.

Despite the fact no trains were due for an hour and a half, we still enjoyed the slight thrill of crossing the tracks to get to the other platform, where I took this photo of Dan and Abi. Then, the delights of the station exhausted, we drove a little way back down the hill and stopped to enjoy the snacks we'd bought at the Co-op. My extra is the view from where we stopped.
