High tide at Udale Bay
A very wet morning with heavy showers inbetween drizzle. I thought the little birds would be safe from the Sparrow hawk as I did not think birds of prey liked flying in the rain, I was wrong and it appeared, missed on it’s first attempt but then caught a poor unfortunate bird and was off to feed it’s own babies. The feeders have now been moved to a different position for now and we’ll see how it goes. I know they have to eat and feed their young but I feel guilty when it’s easy pickings.
The sun came out just before high tide so we nipped down to Udale Bay again. This has to be one of my favourite views on the Black Isle as there is so much to look at. The swans were preening, three herons were having a fight, the swallows skimmed the surface of the water and the sky larks were singing at full blast. We could only stay a while as we were having a mattress delivered in the afternoon between 2 and 6 pm.We had a call from the delivery Men to say they would be with us at about 2.30pm, they had been further North and were on their way back down.
Enough time for lunch and then they arrived exactly at 2.30pm.
Phoned my Mum and Dad to wish my Dad a Happy Fathers Day. They are expecting temperatures to rise to 30 degrees later in the week so not looking forward to that.
I could hear a robin whilst on the phone and then spotted a couple of newly fledged ones on the steps. The first brood are now totally independent.
Watched the film Super 8 in the evening :)
