Wound up in Wexford

Mum's needlework

This is one of the first needlecraft works I can remember mum sewing.  Prior to that, I think she had little leisure time for decorative projects, and occupied her evenings knitting and sewing clothes for the family.

It took pride of place over the fireplace in our living room for a number of years, until superseded by a copy of a piece of Bayeux tapestry.  I think it's a lovely bit of work.

Its back has been coming adrift for a while - last time I tried to repair it, I only had parcel tape, and that didn't stick to the wood frame very well.  So last year, when I ordered frames from the online framing website, I also ordered some special tape, and today I retaped the back.  After I'd finished, and looked at the front, I realised I probably should have taken the whole thing apart, cleaned the glass and perhaps pressed the embroidery - oh well - another time.
