Tea and sympathy

In my first week of working from home, before lockdown began. The local cafe was still serving take aways. We bought some coffees and a couple of lunches to help in what was about to become a very difficult time.

Yesterday we noticed they were open again. So this lunchtime, I ran out in the drizzle when no one was outside the shop. I wore a mask, I sanitised my hands, I kept my distance. I supported a local business at a time when things are still not easy.

Whilst waiting for my order I rationalised with myself over risk. In that week we bought take aways, there was more Covid-19 in Scotland than there is now. We were only being told to wash our hands, cough in to an elbow and reduce contact. Things have changed a lot since then, so in an empty shop, in a mask, with sanitised hands, the risk to the vulnerable parts of me, or others, was pretty low.

The bacon sarnies were tasty, as were the vegan cupcake treats!
