Just arrived home from a day out in Chesterfield . We have driven through the Peak District twice today, taking it in turns to drive so that we both get the pleasure of the splendid panoramic views . It’s definitely an uphill down dale sort of journey passing through lots of small villages characterised by the stone built houses which are delightful to look at as we pass through . Narrow Steep sided vallies covered with dark forest, which are totally shaded from the sun contrasted with wide belts of open, sun drenched undulating green upland .
We had a lovely time catching up with our son, hopefully helped out with some of the jobs on his list to be done whilst his wife and daughter are away catching up with the other grandparents .
We walked to a country park near to where they live and saw this cleverly constructed piece of artwork , a sphere
of bricks . My father in law spent his working life as a maintenance bricklayer at the local NORI brickworks, internationally famous for their endurance and longevity. The sphere was not constructed of such quality bricks though because on one side they were starting to crumble and disintegrate .
Hope you have had peaceful and productive Saturdays .
