Saturday: Galiano

We’re away for a short break which, in itself, feels very exciting.  We actually booked this months ago, before COVID, and just hung on to the booking in the hope we could make it happen.  The reason for our early booking was that we’re camping and campsites, particularly the good ones, book up very early.

We’re on Galiano Island.  Tonight we’re in a nice hotel and tomorrow we depart for the campground.  We’ve had a lovely full day - we’ve walked on beaches, had amazing views, had sausage rolls for lunch, a pint in the pub  and had a lovely dinner in a local café with a lovely atmosphere.

We were having a nightcap in our hotel when there was some concern about a very young fawn that got trapped in a fence on the grounds - it seems it has broken its leg.  It’s parents were watching from a distance.  Some animal rescue people came and transported the fawn to who knows where - it’s such a shame.  Even if they save it, I doubt they can reunite it with its parents.

Despite the fact I claim not to be one for flora, I liked these wild flowers growing in a log.
