Blakeney Point Seals

Finally we had a sunny day and one of the main things I wanted to see here in Norfolk was the seals, so this morning I went on a boat trip to Blakeney Point with Beans Boats.  They'd only just started running the trips again on Tuesday, so I was lucky and they were very Covid aware, only allowing a maximum of 12 passengers on a boat that normally seats 50.  Everyone had to wear face masks, carry their own hand sanitiser and they sanitised the boat before allowing anyone onboard, and they'd marked out the seats to give everyone 2 meters distance.

We sailed out of Morston Quay towards Blakeney Point and the boat driver stopped along the banks where terns were nesting on the beach and we saw some of the chicks, then we continued round the point to see the seals.  There were a few in the water that swam around the boat and there was one 3 week old pup - he said that in a few weeks there will be more pups as they'll be due to give birth soon.  We sailed up and down about three times, so there was plenty of opportunity for photos although it was quite tricky with the boat bobbing about!

Once back at the quay, we went for a walk along the coastal path and then back to Bertie Bus for our lunch.  Alan had parked in a lovely grassy spot overlooking the boats so we got the table and chairs out and had our lunch with a view.  We were going to go to Brancaster beach this afternoon but by the time we left the quay, it was really busy everywhere so we decided to drive back to the cottage and have a walk round Thornham where we're staying .  Our cottage has access through the back garden to a private field with access to the famous Deli, so we decided to go and see what it was like, but it was far too busy so we left it and called back on our way home.  We bought olives and bread and then headed home for drinks in the garden and we had cheese, salami, hummus and olives for dinner which was a really nice change from a cooked meal.

Hope you're all having a good weekend, I'll try and catch up while Alan's driving home tomorrow.
