Petunias
For the first time I have grown petunias for the balcony planters. Usually I have trailing geraniums which do very well and last all summer. This year I ordered 40 plug plants...20 in blue( the dark purple ones) and 20 in purple ( the bright pink ones) as I could not get to a garden centre. Much more hard work! They look fine at the moment but they are not going to last as long, they need much more watering and much more dead heading to keep looking nice. Also they are so sticky...I had forgotten about that. So next year it will definitely be geraniums again.
-to the hairdressers! All very civilised. They are split into two teams and each team is doing 3 x 12 hour days.
- cycled round the local parks, both families of swans still have their cygnets and lots more baby deer.
- pulled up the rest of the carrots and planted some pink trailing geraniums in planters. The geraniums don’t look very healthy but maybe will produce some flowers ready for when the petunias have finished
- cleaned the sandpit and water table ready for next grandchildren visit.
