The view from Braid Hill was stunning with glimpses of hill ranges and distant mountains to the north including Ben Lomond 94 kms away and Ben More 98 kms away and several others equally distant and to the east the Bass Rock (39km) and Isle of May  (50km) were clearly visible.  The toposcope lists the Seven Hills of Edinburgh and indicates many of the local landmarks including heights and distances with information about some of the significant neighbouring geographical features, major historical events and and the effect of man.  The hills of Arthur's Seat, Calton Hill and Castle Rock are in the background in shadow with Blackford Hill in the middle distance while the Corstorphine and Craiglockhart Hills are outside the photo. It really is an asset to have a place that the local people can wander along the footpaths and feel as if they are in the countryside among the natural vegetation yet be not far from Edinburgh city centre
