Everyday I Write The Book

Spread your wings

If you ever need proof of the concept that art can heal, then go to the sculpture park in Churt near Farnham. A beautiful woodland trail of some 2 miles in length criss-crossing streams and meandering through three large ponds, it contains sculptures from every kind of influence from the ethnic Mexican to wannabe Barbara Hepworth with a bit of kitsch along the way. Yes some of it is naff and derivative but there is a great deal of beauty and fun and colour to be had along the way. The attached mother of all collages is still only a fraction of what you will find there.

I particularly liked this one because it was so uplifting, on a day when we needed a lift.

We had lunch in a pub called Belle and the Dragon which is right opposite the sculpture park. They have a lovely garden and the staff were excellent; the food was also very good although overpriced and low on choice.

We popped into Farnham on the way home to do a bit of shopping and to have a cup of coffee in the Blue Bear bookshop which was absolutely fabulous. Eating and drinking surrounded by books is probably one of my favourite pastimes.

Good day.
