My Ancestors Homes

A fine warm day.  Plenty of sunshine, some big clouds passed over, and breezy.

Up early, and a few jobs about the house done.  Headed out walkies, and stopped off for a cuppa at Madeline's.  Headed down to mam's in the afternoon, and we headed out for a run on the boat.  Headed down to work in the pub for a few hours this evening.  More walkies with Sammy, before I get my feet up.

Me, mam, dad, Laura, Elise, peerie Brian and Sammy all headed to Mousa for a run on the boat.  We started with a picnic at the pier.  Next stop the broch, which was padlocked, for some strange reason, and then on to the old houses.  My Christie ancestors came from Mousa at one point, and not being many houses on the island, one can only assume these must have been them.  Too many folk lived on Mousa at one point, exhausting the land, which lead to famine, and then finally abandoning the island in the 1800s, and headed to Cunningsburgh.  The houses are unusually long, and maybe held a few families.  Note the broch and Piper House in the background.
