Rainy capital

In this morning's rain I had to go into town and due to the issues with parking (including the cost) I took to the bus for the first time since February. I was impressed by the organisation and the cleanliness of the vehicle. Everyone was suitably masked too.

When we used to live abroad trips home were always interesting to see what had changed during our absence. I had that feeling again today without even having been away!

Edinburgh, in the rain, without any of its summer festival trappings is like the proverbial sleeping giant. This one, due to Covid 19 is on life support.

I spotted a few bedraggled tourists and did wonder if they might be enjoing seeing the city, and other Scottish sights, with out all the usual crowds. I also saw some locals dragging cases towards the airport bus. They may face unexpected quarantine when they return.

There was no play at the Test Match due to the heavy rain. The "long range" weather forecast for August indicates that the changeable weather will continue. It is all to do with the jet streams which are set wet for Scotland for the next month apparently.
