WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Eddie's Van

On our way to Skipton we were behind Eddie's van. He is the very talentented sign writer who painted 'Fiddlesticks' on each side of our boat 2 years ago. We often see him driving around the area going from one job to another. He pops by frequently when we're on the boat for a cuppa and bikkies - though the last couple of times we obviously had to sit outside well apart.
He tells a good tale does Eddie and is also a very kind man - keeping an eye out for elderly neighbours and helping where he can.

We were going to Skipton for me to collect my new Specs. I hadn't realised how much my eyes had deteriorated since I got my last varifocals 2 years ago. When I put the new ones on everything was so clear. Also my new specs for close up work and reading are much better.

We took 5 large bags of clothes and one of fabrics to the charity shop too. We had a great clear out yesterday and I think I can find plenty more. I also put some of my handmade handbags in that were left from the bag business I had in Dumfries.

I had to give Bella another hose pipe shower as she had rolled in something disgusting and it had hardened on her fur and was very stinky!

It was extremely hot and sunny but muggy today - however now it is raining so it should cool off.

Sudden changes up here with more restrictions being implemented at short notice - midnight! A lot of confusion though about who can go where and with whom, no socialising in each others houses. BUT going to the pub is still OK as are shops, beauty salons, nail bars, hairdresser, cafes etc.
I do feel sorry for all those who should have been celebrating Eid with their families today. I suppose the same could happen to us at Christmas :-(
The thing is, if some people refuse to follow the rules/the law then this awful virus will spread. Our village shop has a notice on the door saying they will not policing the wearing of masks and all customers will be welcome with or without. It's a very small shop with no chance of social distancing. It's a lovely, friendly shop but I'm afraid I won't be going in.

Have a good weekend folks, be sensible and stay safe :-)X
