THAT IS NOT PURPLE!

The first year we had our fountain,  my husband planted a stunning, deep purple water lily that bloomed prolifically & had the most amazing colored leaves.  Every year since, he has ordered plants hoping to have that same purple lily.  We usually end up with beautiful pink flowers like in this blip.

This morning, a bud arose & we were certain it was going to be purple, because the leaves were exactly the same as the previous lily.   When it bloomed, my first thought was: "THAT IS NOT PURPLE!"  Then I remembered my favorite colored flowers is BLUE.  All is well. Now I have a new favorite.

It's the last day of July.  The weather forecast earlier this week said it would be 102F (38.9C) today, but now it changed to 100F (37.C).  We walked the dogs this morning, & that hot breeze was welcome.  There is a HEAT ADVISORY, so we followed the shade & made it quick. 

The WATER LILIES are doing back flips because they love the 
"dog days of summer."
