Sailfest 2013

Zihuatanejo's annual fundraising event started yesterday. Sailfest is a week long event that features auctions, t-shirt sales, a chili cook-off, and a couple of different sailing activities for which one can "buy" crew positions. This morning all manner and size of sailboat gathered for a pursuit race. Visible in this photo of the start are big mono-hulls and both large and small catamarans. Some boats have dozens of people aboard, others have just a single beach vendor. Every year I say I am going to pay my 300 pesos and be part of the race or grand parade held this coming Friday, but every year it seems I have other commitments and end up watching from the beach rather than on the water.
