Nicky and her Nikon

Another hot day

Although it was cloudy this morning it was very hot and humid. I had a good walk with Xena, and we met a gorgeous male Vizsla who turned out to be from her same kennel line. She also saw deer on two separate occasions - first, a young one who froze and Xena also froze, they eyed each other for quite a while and then the deer ran off and Xena gave chase but soon turned back. In the extras I have a photo of that young deer, it's the first time I have managed to get a photo of the deer around our woods as they are not used to people like the ones at Bushy Park and are very skittish. Later on during our walk we met a much larger deer and again Xena gave a half hearted chase but soon came back. She does not seem to have a strong prey drive which is good.

I then went to the supermarket to buy some things to take with us to Switzerland - the food will be a bit of a problem there as in a small supermarket in a mountain village they obviously do not have an extensive range of items, particularly vegetarian food for Meriel.

I also did something exciting - I have put my name down for a photography trip to Iceland next year. I have been wanting to go for many years but the photographer I wanted to go with has not done trips there in a while as he said it was so overrun with tourists and it was just too frustrating for photographers. However in our current circumstances, there are not as many tourists as usual and as Iceland had hardly any cases of Covid it seems like a good time to go. Of course it is all dependent on what happens with the pandemic so we shall see, it's still in the planning stages. A friend emailed me about it after she too got the email from the pro photographer running it so if it happens we are going together which will be great.

By lunch time the cloud had lifted and it was very sunny and hotter. I took Xena back to the heath for a walk this afternoon and I know it is yet another image of the heather (although in a different location) - by the time we get back from Switzerland I am sure the best of the heather will be over.

Due to the lockdown, filming of new TV dramas and films was unable to take place so there is a serious lack of anything decent to watch on TV at the moment. So I decided to start watching Outlander which I never saw when it first aired a few years ago - so far I am enjoying it very much.
