Up On’t Moors

Today saw the return of Orienteering. CLOK organised a weekend of socially distant orienteering on the Moors near Whitby. Given they had only two weeks to plan and organise the event it worked extremely well. Thanks to Chris the planner, Alan the controller and the organising team. We felt safe from start to finish.

We left Pickering in blazing sunshine to see a sea fret hovering along the coast. It did not affect the event and had cooling effect for the runners. Navigation was largely reliant on good compass work and using the contour features to guide you. Heathery terrain but if you looked ahead you could find easier going.

I was concerned about the knee so wore a knee brace which worked particularly well. Not elegant but it did the trick. Thanks Boots.

The highlight was being in the open air and having socially distant chats with friends and familiar faces. Quite a number had travelled a distance to join in.

We left Jet at home for a couple of hours as we were concerned about a hot car. So a bit more exercise when I returned home. This is the first Holly Blue I have managed to catch this year.
