Diary of an Edinburgher

Dreich!

Rain all day. Non stop. JR took Archie out this morning, but he sat down and refused to walk. He doesn’t like the rain. He eventually went out for a piddle, reluctantly, by midday. And when JR eventually came home, drookit, she took him out for the rest about 4pm - surely a record. I took the bus along to my Body Street torture session, which is so handy. And the bus back again.

I was supposed to be going with JR (and Archie) for lunch in Bruntsfield, but I had to decline the invitation because Yodel were coming at some point today to collect the big package that was the unwanted, unsuitable, hedge trimmer. In fact the chap came to collect it about 2.30. But JR met up with an ex-colleague and they had a super lunch. Just as well Archie didn’t go, as he would have been sitting there all wet. Not fun. And anyway, we’re going out tomorrow for lunch, but will be able to take the bus, as it looks like this rain is hanging round all week!

I searched for something suitable to watch on Netflix, but it’s full of gruesome murders and dodgy detectives. I do get fed up with them. But I discovered a foodie programme - Anthony Bourdain in various less-than-glamorous locations called ‘Parts Unknown’. He was a great presenter, loved the food, and loved meeting people, but sadly he committed suicide while filming an episode in Strasbourg in 2018.

Rain all day (all week), heating on - Edinburgh in August. But at least I don’t have to worry about the poor tourists and half dressed performers, miserably wandering round the streets.

Here’s Archie looking for a wee bit of carrot that rolled under the cabinet. He won’t forget, so the metre stick has to be deployed to retrieve it.
