Kawau Bay at sunrise
The internal clock worked surprisingly well this morning, and I was awake at my usual time of just before 0600 am. Surprising, because we did not get back from the restaurant last night until almost midnight. It wasn't meant to be that late.
S booked a table for four (us and her Gold Coast based cousin and his wife) for about 6:30 pm. Then her brother and his partner decided they wanted to join us, as did her London cousin and her husband. The restaurant could accommodate the increase, but at 8:30 pm. In the end, the table wasn't ready until 9 pm.
Still, we had a really enjoyable evening of interesting conversation and splendid food. A very nice local Pinot Noir to accompany it all.
After my morning run, on which I watched the sky transition from soft pastels through this to the very dramatic colours of the sun above Kawau Island and becoming hidden by the clouds, we had a busy and satisfying day. Breakfast (a little later than usual) with the Gold Coast rels, during which we were joined by a lovely young couple and their two small boys. They were neighbours in the apartment building, and we had invited them to lunch before realising we had a breakfast date (made last night!!).
This afternoon, after they had left, we were joined by the London cousins so that M could use the internet, and P could talk to S. After a while, I retreated to the study to do a report.
Now putting up this picture, which is worth seeing large.
