Family grave

Before we left Lancaster for home we went to the small village of Quernmore a few miles to the east of the city. Near there is St Peter’s Church where the gravestone of one of my grandfathers sisters is located. Her married name was Wandsworth and she passed away aged 44 in 1890. My grandfather was born in 1858 in Roxburghshire.

Before leaving to start the Canadian branch of the McAdam family, one of my grandfather’s brothers, John, stayed in a house above the village - The Bungalow. We met a local on the nearby farm who said it had been demolished to build a new house and that the original had been a lovely construction with verandahs “ in the Indian style”.

Our son has tracked down photos both of Annie and John to add to those of my grandfather.
