Another season done and dusted
My first ever blip on 22nd April was taken from this spot. Such a change and it brings home the rapid passing of seasons, and even thoughts of mortality if we don't keep a firm grip! Today's colours everywhere are several shades darker than a couple of days ago. Our walk in the wood felt positively sinister (again, keep a grip Graham) and definitely not the bright and airy place the dog and I have been used to of late.
Re yesterday's blip, the combine did pick up the rather flattened crop without mishap. Out of shot to the right, two combines are working in tandem as the bad weather rolls in. That's a well run farm. Fields previously harvested are already ploughed, ready for the next crop.
Our other neighbour was combining all night, so that's all his rape seed gathered in. He's already onto the wheat.
These days it's all on a massive scale with huge machinery. But sometimes I hanker for the small tractor drawn kit (occasionally in those days horse drawn still), the corn stooks and the haystacks of childhood on my uncle's farm. Lordy, now I'm sounding like Gabriel Oak. Sorry about that.
