Heads or tails

I was trying to get into a position where the head and the body of this spider were both in focus, but alas! it was not to be. So I decided I would rather have the head out of focus if I could get the body and legs in focus, so this is the best option. Because it's the body that  identifies it as a cross orb weaver ( Araneus diadematus). A common NY state denizen that lurks under leaves during the day and comes out and weaves it's webs at night.
I was looking for a jumping spider on the heliopsis and found this guy on the Buddleia on a mostly spent flower  instead. Matches the color perfectly.
