"Along The Murray River Today"

This afternoon our walk along the Murray River bank was very quiet, not many birds around which we haven't seen before recently - quite a few water -birds swimming singularly, and lots of cheeky galahs chewing away at the roots on the nearby lawns, and families of black ducks happily moving around us, but this scene appealed to me for a change..

The scene is looking downstream toward Goolwa, South Australia, and the Murray-Mouth which is quite a few hundred klms away and the river goes out to the sea there..

You will see the post with the ARROW on it - that's a navigation channel marker which is used to assist vessels to navigate safer waters - that is, to miss sand- bars and align the safer water route..
To me, it looks like it needs a coat of paint, but the paddle-steamers, etc., know exactly where it is..
