Walk on the Wild Side

Went for our usual walk into town this morning for a coffee, but it seems like everyone else had the same idea! Presumably the Secret Seven, Snow White’s dwarves and the Magnificent Seven all wanted one last get together before the rules change tomorrow and they have to leave one of their number at home!
Having abandoned the idea of a coffee we headed for home - and it turned into a right nature ramble. We saw the remains of a Sparrow Hawk attack, and then a little further up the road spied a Jay. Not a bird you see that often around here.
Couldn’t get a shot of it before it flew away, but had a lot more success with a Short-Tailed Vole we saw scurrying around at the side of the path. Seemingly unphased by two people trying to take its photo, it ran around for a good few minutes before disappearing into a hole in the wall.
There will be plenty of other opportunities to have a coffee, but I doubt we’ll see such a variety of wildlife on one walk again!
