The sunflower is a bright and bold flower which mirrors so many of the sun's positive characteristics. They give us a sense of happiness. You can't help but conjure up images of sunflowers (girasoli) when you think of summer time in Tuscany. When someone mentions Vincent van Gogh you can't help but think of his famous painting, Sunflowers.
Today I had my book club luncheon/meeting and one of the members, affectionately known as Jeanne 2, (we have two women named Jeanne) was kind enough to host it. She had a whole Italian theme with wonderful wine, cheeses and homemade pizzas. The table was set in a red and white checkered tablecloth and in the center sat this wonderful vase of sunflowers. I zoomed in for a close up of one for my blip today. You just have to smile when you look at one of these flowers.
