Sea of Tranquility

Here’s something completely different!

Astronomy is big in Central Queensland. Something to do with the generally clear skies. This photo was taken with the Sparrow’s iPhone clipped onto the eyepiece of a big but portable telescope. An astronomer comes out to the cattle station we’re on and does talks for tourists.

The darker spot roughly in the middle of the illuminated section of the moon is where Neil Armstrong half slipped down the ladder and uttered his famous words about 50 years ago. It’s apparently a volcanic lava bed, hence a relatively flat spot.
