My Best Efforts - Year 3

The Kinema in the Woods..............

.................One of my "ladies" goes to her Dentist in Woodhall Spa once every 6 months and today was her day! It is a pleasant run and after a really wet start, the sun came out at about 10 am and it turned into a lovely morning so it was just the day to go. Whilst she was having her teeth fiddled about with, I nipped up the road to have a look at this most unusual cinema. It started life as a farm building, became a cricket pavilion but in 1922 became the Pavilion Cinema. It was only the 68th to open in England and has the only fully functioning cinema to use a back projection screen. As from 2007 it opens 7 days a week with Matinees at weekends and during the School holidays. It houses the "Mighty Compton Organ" which is played on Saturday nights by local man, Alan Underwood.
Films running at the moment include Hitchcock, A Good Way to Die Hard, les Miserables and Lincoln - which is a very good selection, I think.
I have never been myself but, like a lot of other things, I will get round to it one day!

The weather was absolutely awful early his morning - raining hard but at about 10am, it suddenly cleared and it was glorious until lunchtime. Now dull and cloudy again but much less cold - 8 deg C.
