Level crossing

We left the boys with Granny and Grandpa this morning (thank you as ever!!) for a rather special visit. Having spent a couple of years (literally) endlessly talking about what dog we could get, then dismissing the idea because we work full time, then because of puppy farm worries, then on cost.... , so this morning we went to see a puppy, bread by a friend of a friend. This evening I put the deposit down, and we have a beautiful springer spaniel coming to join us when he is ready.

We drove back to Stamford on the back roads and came across this crossing - complete with a chap who called the signal box and opened the gates for us. Something really quite wonderful about it.

Quiet afternoon of gardening and DIY.

Gardening with the eldest whilst the youngest 'helped with DIY 
Watching a fantastic film about a homeless man who became a stock broker - whilst looking after his toddler and went on to become a multi-millionnaire, amazing true story
