Wet weather fun

Very wet all day.  At least after all the rain yesterday and overnight the river in the village has some water in it.  We have learned that water is permitted to be abstracted from it and to compensate for that, water is pumped back into the river.  Due to a technical fault that reimbursement of water had not happened since the end of September, hence the lack of any of it!  It may account for the large fish we found in the field, perhaps stranded and caught by a heron, then dropped as it was too big to eat.  There has been much local anguish about the situation as the river is a habitat for protected species and is much enjoyed by local people and is a focal point for socialising and playing.

Other than that, in our little world, we cleaned, I made coconut and cranberry rock cakes, I picked tomatoes, courgettes, grapes and a cucumber!, and did two wet dog walks.  Merlin has a new game which involves running up water filled ditches at full speed, then burrowing his head in to the water just before he leaps out.  He seems to find this final bit slightly scary but obviously likes the thrill of it all!  It cheered up our walks to see him having so much fun.  This evening we decided it was time for a new jigsaw puzzle.

Hoping you have had some fun today, whatever the weather.
