Our kind of day
I jacked up the cast iron stove with wood blocks and cut and laid the hearth tiles underneath using heat proof cement. It was easier to do it that way rather than disconnecting the flue and trying to get a leak free seal again afterwards. On the work front, N set up some interviews in the morning and spent the rest of the day with her wellies and spade, making borders and planting out. A friend called for a chat, which we did outdoors with masks. In the afternoon I put a new battery into the ride on mower and it fired up first time, so I cut all the grass at the back of the house. As sundown neared a bottle of wine appeared. Later the barbecue was lit and once the food was cooked we retired indoors to eat. The leaves are turning autumnal and falling fast. Great day, hopefully tomorrow will be the same.
