Sally Mair - Loving life

Autumn colours

Today I had a list of things to get done before 1pm - M&S shop( including picking up a free pastry courtesy of Sparks) , drop card off for Eilidh, Morrisons petrol (I managed to pour it over my feet... how?), Morrisons food shop, pick 1kg brambles and 1kg of elderberries then drop off all I'd bought/picked at home.
Over to Corstorphine to pick up two take away coffees from Scotmid and then walked into the park opposite her school for 1.30 to meet Ali. We hadl a quick, half hour, chat sitting at either end of a park bench. Helping us along the way were two very nice doughnut sort of things from Marks which had freeze dried raspberries on top.
All accomplished on time, so I was a very happy bunny. I then had to shoot off for my covid test appointment and I'm now self isolating till Thursday when I have to go in to have a small BCC taken off my face.
Back home I boiled up the brambles and some apples and they are now dripping over night. Tomorrow they shall become jelly. I've stripped the elderberries off their stalks and got most of the snails off them. I'm going to have a go at elderberry rob which is meant to be full of healthy things and good for warding off flu etc... just in case the vaccine doesn't work. I was very impressed with my weight estimating, I had 1.04kg of brambles and 996g of elderberries. I'd wanted a kg of each so that was pretty impressive, exactly a 2kg total.
Phoned my friend in India today on WhatsApp to wish her a happy birthday. So good to see her. We met in 1997 and for a good 10 years wrote regularly. I'd write, it would take two weeks to get there and Carrie would write back then two weeks later I'd reply. Technology is much easier, but I loved getting the letters. She is shielding at home as she has a health issue so is very happy to have her son back home with her for a few months. She doesn't go out at all. It's so strange to think of her doing all her food ordering online. What will my India be like when I go back?... whenever that is! Will it have changed for ever?
This evening we had a Look Fung takeaway just in case they decide to shut over the next two weeks. Delicious.
We watched the last Vera this evening... now what?

Stay safe everybody. Two weeks isn't so terribly long, we can do it and if it protects people we love it's worth it.

Steps today 6010
