North easterly

Before a morning of meetings I noticed the white horses galloping on the Firth of Forth and anticipated a lively walk in the afternoon. My expectations were fully realised as we reached the beach from the west end having walked inland on the outward leg. Despite the wind and the roar of the surf the visibility was surprisingly good in all directions.

Sadly, a stranded whale died near the mouth of the Brunstane Burn this afternoon despite the best efforts of local rescuers. The combination of the strong currents whipped by the prevailing winds may have contributed to its disorientation.

If you look closely at my blip you will see a dog running wild in the waves. Its owners had no control over it and it very nearly caught one of the feeding godwits. I do wish the minority of dog owners who do not know how to train their dogs were made to do so.
