The Man in Black

Ha! This was an easy blip today, easier than I ever imagined possible!

In The Garrick Inn, Stratford upon Avon today, Paul came in as usual. He lives round the corner from the pub and you can always bump into him at some stage in Stratford in one of his four regular haunts - The Windmill, The Garrick Inn, The Thatch Tavern or The Falcon Hotel.

The Garrick doesn't have beer mats which I've always found irritating as drips from the bottom of your glass often drip onto your clothes. When Paul walked in, the first thing he did was get a beer mat out of his pocket and placed it on the bar. Hobgoblin brewed by Wychwood is my absolute favourite drink but you don't see it on draught in many places. I saw the mat and and asked him where he got it from. He told me he got it in The Thatch Tavern where Hobgoblin is on draught at the moment and told me I could have the mat. I was delighted (easily pleased) and swapped the mat with a serviette. He only drinks lager by the way, so a real ale beer mat is better off with me.

Before I even had time to think about it I asked him to hold the beer mat up and look presentable as I whipped out my phone and took this picture!
He said 'Don't put that on the internet!'

I didn't hear that bit though.....
