Camino del Rey

We drove to Ronda this morning via the dramatic gorge of El Chorro. Earthdreamer tried to persuade me to walk the infamous Camino del Rey, but I overruled him on this one. If you look at the link you'll understand why! You can see the path, or what remains of it, snaking around the vertical cliff here.

After a few hours exploring the old centre of Ronda, separated from the new part of the city by the famous gorge, we drove out into the Sierra del Nieves to enjoy a very different landscape. We passed Juniper, various species of Thyme, Hairy Mullien, Wild Rose, Santalina and even patches of snow en route to a the top of a ridge at over 1600m before having to turn back in order to beat the fading light, which we just managed.

It's been another amazing day.
