Black swans and cygnets

The day started brightly and I spotted nine male pheasants walking in the sun in the field opposite. About an hour later there were six female pheasants wandering around.  The weather however changed but I managed a quick walk with a friend before lunch.

The high winds and rain continued but we all headed off to Dawlish where we were meeting up with old friends from the Midlands.  They were on a weeks holiday which looks like it will be cut short by lockdown.  It was lovely to meet up with them, our son was with us and he had known them all his life as N was his childminder.  We had a short wander around Dawlish and were most surprised to see that one pair of the famous black swans had cygnets.  The swans were brought back from Australia in the 1900s and breed here.  The poor weather meant that we didn't linger but we plan to meet up again before lockdown on Thursday.
