Neil deGrasse Tyson was talking with Stephen Colbert about the coronavirus. They were lamenting that Americans had not pulled together to fight this as they do in the movies when aliens invade and Neil accidentally said, "when aliens invade..." 

Fiction will be very different in the future. I expect more emphasis on disease. I'm imagining a movie where aliens invade and humans fight each other and let the aliens win. This is completely plausible. Did you ever wonder how the conquistadors could overtake so many Aztecs? You thought it was because they had guns? Hernan Cortes had 600 conquistadors. They had guns with lousy focus, that had to be laboriously reloaded after every shot. They could have been easily swarmed, but they cleverly divided the Aztecs and got them to fight each other. It was easy to do because the ruling elites were already in-fighting and were regularly sacrificing the sons and daughters of the peoples they had conquered. When the Spaniards came, locals thought they could get a better deal by teaming with them. Picture a movie with aliens invading, governments exhorting people to resist, and many of the people deciding that the aliens weren't really that bad and they needed to get to work, and others deciding that they'd rather side with the aliens because they were tired of how they were being treated.
