In the Garden
It has been a beautiful day here with lovely blue skies and autumn colours. We have moved a few pots around to make the small new patio look more part of the garden and somewhere to sit. We have completed the painting of the first half of one of the fences, ie one sixth of the fencing. We are hoping to finish the section up to the top left corner of the garden this week and we are also hoping that we will be able to do that in one container of the paint... There were a lot of leaves to start sweeping up today so a start has been made on that. We also filled in a dent in the lawn where the digger did a bit of sinking. The Secret Garden was not so secret today as the folk in the big house next door were having the patch of land at the back of our houses cleared where there is a small stream. It has been gradually blocked by undergrowth and now their drive way gets flooded. We were just keeping an eye on them to make sure they weren’t going anywhere near our culvert. They have left the digger there so there is obviously more to do tomorrow.
Do you remember a couple of weeks ago I was wondering about street sweepers? Well, the street sweeper truck came today and we now have lovely clean gutters! That pleased me.
Oh, and I got myself locked in the secret garden because the new gate shut to behind me and there isn't a latch on the outside! I waved over the top of the fence but was ignored by the two men in the house. Eventually I decided that I could either do a Fosbury Flop over the fence, Climb like Chris Bonnington and abseil on the ivy down the other side, or use a little twig to try to lift the latch through a tiny crack. That would have done for Tiny Tuesday, but of course no camera was available. Otherwise I could have phoned to be rescued. My preferred option was number 2 but in the end option 3 was successful. I know. You must be very disappointed in my lack of adventurousness. Is that a word?
This shot is the view over the fence into the woodland at the back of the garden. This is taken from the big new patio.
