Life of Pie
So tonight Annie thought we'd make a shepherd's pie (strictly speaking a cottage pie, beef not lamb) for tea. The girls are with us and Annie had small school meeting here at home so this was ideal solution for feeding all that needed a hearty dinner. Shepherd's pie is a regular favourite here, the Delia recipe with crispy leek and melted cheese on top, however we hadn't had it since before Christmas.
When it came to locating the appropriate dish, an awful truth dawned. The remanents of the last pie were still in the bowl which had been residing in the second fridge in the garage since before Christmas (we only really use that fridge at Christmas). Whilst the foil covering had preserved much of the pie, a flourishing new community was establishing itself in the bowl. Well it would have been rude not to photograph it.
You will all be mighty relieved to know that after a very intense scrub and rinse, the bowl was as clean as it has ever been and the fresh pie has been enjoyed by all.
