Limping towards Christmas

Today Becci had to change our morning session at Mary Webb. We'd planned a walk to the stream where we'd make a fire and have some hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows, but the weather just wasn't good enough. Instead we ate some sloes (even the 12 year olds agreed, after tasting, that the only thing sloes are good for is gin), collected some natural materials, jumped over a stream and then did some embroidery. A whole year group down today, plus my mentee off self-isolating, meant a slight change to our plans for the rest of the day, but that's pretty much standard at the moment.

Students and staff all looked like it was the end of term today, the weariness evident. A massive four weeks to go. I've spoken plenty on here about how incredible school staff have been for this entire year. Shame the government is going to reward them with a pay freeze.

The downside of today is having to see way too much of Priti Patel and Matt Hancock on my screen.
