Snow Globe
Daylight was a reluctant participant in proceedings. It was loath to make an appearance, was cowed by the overburdening layer of thick cloud and teeming rain, giving up the unequal struggle well before knocking off time.
We initially thought this was going to be a washout. Indeed the morning was a little aimless after a conference call. A walk was in the offing for after lunch until the relentless rain forced a reassessment and we went by car to the various shops instead of walking and dripping around them.
It proved a wise decision as we accomplished a great deal in terms of presents, food and other items and a visit to Notcutts garden centre proved fruitful for a blip. Susan bought her mother some clothes for Christmas from the rapidly diminishing stock at Edinburgh Woollen Mill and we both purchased some new Scarpa walking shoes from Cotswold Outdoors.
Even the weather relented as darkness reasserted itself and we were able to trot around the village fulminating at motorists who have no idea what 30 mph looks like. (Even more have less idea of what 20mph looks like in those areas of the village where that speed is the limit)
A submission for AbstractThursday. Thanks again to Ingeborg for hosting.
