Water under the bridge
Yesterday we discovered that the garden centre on the edge town has some pot-grown Christmas trees, so we hot-footed it there this morning and purchased one. The garden centre is by the river. It's a bit late in the year, but with a torrent of water coming down, MrM thought there might be a fish or two trying to swim upstream. There wasn't, not while we were looking anyway, but it was nice to stop for a while and listen to the roar of the water!
Back home to start wrapping Christmas gifts - several completed and packed in to three boxes, ready to go to the post office tomorrow morning. It has suddenly become urgent to sort out and tidy the downstairs hallway, a huge task, so I spent the rest of the day making a start on that. Meanwhile, MrM has made a door frame for the new cupboard, and has hung the door. I suspect that it will confuse visitors (when they are allowed) even more than they were confused before - the flat has a 'quirky' layout, and until you're used to it it's easy to get lost!
Yesterday seemed hopeful, as the first Covid 19 vaccinations were given in the UK. Today dismay - two health workers suffered allergic reactions after having the jab, and people with a history of significant allergic reactions have been advised not to have the Pfizer/BioNTech jab. Sigh! Hopefully my GP will be able to advise nearer the time...
